ACTIVITIES
The UGGS has been involved in several activities since its establishment in 2018. These activities include school visits, coastal cleanups, climate change campaigns and participation in the University of Guyana Career Day. During Geography Awareness Week, the society spearheads several activities and events which help to promote geographic awareness. These include online articles, radio presentations, webinars and geography-oriented games.
IMPORTANCE OF GIS
Geographic Information System (GIS) is a framework for gathering, managing, and analyzing data rooted in the science of geography (ESRI 2020). It serves as a vital tool to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present all types of geographic data through its various problem-solving analytics. GIS is utilized in several areas of study including geomorphology, climatology, demography, disaster management etc. The society has made available an online repository dedicated to GIS.
RESOURCES
The UGGS has put together various resources for educational purposes. These resources include documents on human and physical geography and geography worksheets for CSEC students. Documents with respect to the society's elections and constitution are also included.
Discover
Being a part of the geographical society, and even more so an undergraduate in the Geography department, will allow you to expand your horizons in all areas of study. With constant field studies and workshops, you are guaranteed to discover new and interesting areas of interest. 
Research
After discovering, you would be better able to research different areas, thus expanding your knowledge . This creates  avenues allowing you to display your abilities, which would then grab the interest of institutions and consultancy projects. 
Change
The society will allow you access to a number of experts and officials who would encourage,  stimulate and assist you to initiate change that would make an impact on the lives of people all across Guyana and around the world. From publications to jobs, the list is endless.
